•An 18th century replica Qatari Astrolabe used for navigational purposes.•
(Modern day GPS)
For those who are not aware yet of this beautiful invention, an astrolabe is an ancient astronomical computer to solve problems relating to time and the position of the Sun and stars in the sky.
The astrolabe was highly developed in the Islamic world and was introduced to Europe from Islamic Spain (Andalusia) in the early 12th century.
(I’m terribly sorry I couldn’t record the wonderful information about astronomy in the Islamic world, but Islamic astronomers definetely had a huge role in the developmemt of astronomy..I was far too engaged in examining the beautiful astrolabe)
